What are these Notice Stickers? How do they work?

Post  heartnmoxie on Thu Nov 20, 2008 2:50 pm

Hi,
As far as I know, you can't just take posession of a rented unit in IL without being sued within an inch of your life. What are these stickers and how do they work?

Thanks

NOTICE Return Of Possession/Stickers

Post  wdepue on Thu Nov 20, 2008 8:58 pm

Hi Heartnmoxie, I see your location is Chicago. So this will pertain to the RLTO ordinance 5-12-130 Landlord remedies (e)abandonment and 5-12-160 Prohibition On Interruption Of Tenant Occupancy By Landlord. 5-12-160 allows for the lawful return of possession to the landlord thru 5-12-130.
No, you can only take lawful possesion per 5-12-130 and 5-12-160 and anyone can have a lawsuit filed against them unlawfully. The notice stickers are non-removable, explaining the landlord's application of the rights and remedies made available by the ordinance and returning possesion to the landlord. These stickers are very informative to the reader.
